Briefly about herself:

"I would like to learn to fly… with a parachute, naturally."

Career history:

She is a graduate from the Department of Economic Sciences (WNE) at the University of Warsaw (1996). At the age of 26 she received a PhD degree in economic sciences. She specializes in nonlinear optimization models, especially general equilibrium models.

She started her professional career in 1994 as an assistant in the Warsaw Ecological Economics Center (WOEE). Since 2001 she has been an assistant professor in WNE at the University of Warsaw. She has also worked for the Agency for International Development, for the World Bank in Ukraine and as a consultant for NGOs. She has been a visiting professor at universities in Belgium (Antwerp and Leuven), the Netherlands (Utrecht and Groningen), Denmark (Aarhus), and the USA (Rice University). In 2008-2010 – being on a sabbatical from her position at the University of Warsaw – she worked in the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology as an assistant of Prof. Thomas F. Rutherford (a leading expert at general equilibrium modeling).

Scholarships and awards:

    • An award of Warsaw University Rector for Academic Teachers for scientific achievements (2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2007)
    • A third award in the Dissertation Award Competition, the Association of the Poland-East Collaboration (2002)
    • An academic scholarship – Central and East European Economic Research Centre at the University of Warsaw (1998-2000)
